Ron Eastman - Head Coach

Coach Ron Eastman enters his eighth season as Head Baseball Coach of The Woodlands High School as the coach with the most wins in Highlander history compiling a record of 190 wins and 42 loses. In the past five seasons, his teams have won five consecutive District Championships, One State Championship, and One National Championship backed by a combined record of 159-24 for an 87% winning percentage. His overall record in 15 years as a Head Coach is 313-143. 

In 2007 Coach Eastman was named National Coach of the Year by the NFHSCA, making it the second straight season for him to earn such an Honor. He was also named District Coach of the Year for the sixth time. 

In 2006, the Highlanders won the Texas 5A State Championship finishing with a 38-1 record. Baseball America, USA Today and Collegiate Baseball recognized the team as the 2006 National Champions. The National High School Baseball Coaches Association and USA Today named Eastman 2006 National Coach of the Year. The National Federation High School Coaches Association and the Texas Sports Writers Association also honored him as the Texas 5A Coach of the Year. The American Baseball Coaches Association and National Federation High School Coaches Association nominated him the 2006 Regional Coach of the Year and National Coach Nominee. The All Greater Houston Coaches Association chose Eastman as the 2006 Ray Knoblauch Award Winner. 

In the Fall of 2005, Coach Eastman accepted on behalf of the Baseball Program an award from The National HS Baseball Coaches Association, honoring Scotland Yard as the #1 High School Baseball Field in the Nation. After a 30-5 season and a regional semifinal berth in 2003, he was named District 15-5A, Montgomery County and the Houston Chronicle’s Coach of the Year. In 2002, Eastman was selected by the Houston Area Baseball Coaches to lead the Northeast All-Stars in the All Greater Houston All-Star game. Eastman served as varsity assistant for four years and was in charge of infielders during the 2000 State championship season. During his seven years as Head Coach at The Woodlands, he has coached 25 All-State players and four All-Americans. 

Prior to coaching The Woodlands in 1997, Eastman guided the Lamar Redskins for eight years. He was named HISD and Houston Association Coach of the Year in 1995 after taking Lamar to the playoffs for the first time since 1869. Coach Eastman is also a scout for the Houston Astros. Coach Eastman has a BS from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and a Masters in Education from the University of Houston. 

Coach Eastman’s greatest support comes from his wife Chari, who is an Emergency Room Nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital of The Woodlands. They have two sons; Ian (19) and Ryan (16).

 

Shane Graves - Assistant Varsity Coach      [TOP]

Coach Shane Graves has been with The Woodlands Highlander baseball program for eleven years.  Coach Graves played college baseball at Stephen F. Austin and is a 1995 graduate of Texas A&M University.  Coach Graves was the pitching coach for the 2000 and 2006 State Championship teams.   His wife, Dina, is the Assistant Athletic Director and the Head Coach of Girls Soccer at TWHS.  They have a daughter Peyton Marie, five years old, and twins, son Bryce and daughter Rylie, two years old.

Chris Harden - Assistant Varsity Coach

Coach Chris Harden enters his sixth year as Assistant Coach for The Woodlands Highlander Varsity team.  He is a 1988 graduate of Cheboygan High School, Cheboygan, MI, where he played Varsity baseball, football and basketball.   He attended Ferris State University in Big Rapids, MI, where he earned his Bachelors in Math Education in 1997.  At Ferris State he was a four-year Varsity baseball player.  In 1993, he was named the MVP for the Ferris State University Baseball Team, and in the same season made Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference 1st Team All-Conference.  Coach Harden is currently a Math teacher at TWHS.  This is his tenth year of teaching, the last six with CISD.  He is a single parent with eight year old twin sons, Jarrod & Jordan.  He is the son of Richard & Lucy Harden.

Barry Wilson - Junior Varsity Coach       [TOP]

Coach Barry Wilson enters his seventh year with the Highlander baseball program, and his 16th year in coaching and education.  In addition to being the Junior Varsity coach, he is responsible for training the catchers in the program.  Prior to coming to The Woodlands HS, Coach Wilson was at Montgomery HS, Conroe HS, and McAdams JHS in Dickinson. He is a 1981 graduate of Cy-Fair HS in Houston, and received his Bachelors Degree from Texas A&M University in 1986.  Coach Wilson is currently pursuing his Masters in Educational Administration at Sam Houston State University.  Coach Wilson and his wife of 19 years, Judy, have two children, Braxton, 18 and Ragan, nine.

Bryan Hill - Sophomore Coach

Coach Bryan Hill enters his eighth season with The Highlander baseball program and second year as head coach for the sophomore team. Coach Hill has been coaching for the past ten years. He has coached football and basketball at Knox Junior High (1998 – 2000), at Branch Crossing Junior High (2000 – 2005), and currently coaching at TWHS 9th Grade Campus.  Coach Hill graduated from Glen Oaks High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 1986, where he made All-District and team MVP as a catcher. He also caught at Gulf Coast CC and Henderson State University, graduating from there in 1992.  Coach Hill and wife, Ronda, have a five year old son, Bridger, and twins Calli and Camden.

David Colschen - Sophomore Coach

Coach David Colschen enters his first year as a Volunteer Baseball coach with the Highlanders. Coach Colschen is a first year coach at TWHS 9th grade campus where he is coaching freshman football. He graduated from Klein Oak High School in Spring, Texas, in 2001, where he played football and baseball. He was the captain of the football team and was named team MVP his senior year. He attended the University of Texas at Austin, graduating from there in 2006.  Coach Colschen and his wife Candace were married in June of this past summer.
