Highlanders chop down Forest 8-1

The Woodlands High School varsity baseball team defeated Klein Forest 8-1 in 15-5A action on Tuesday night.

TWHS, 19-9 overall and 7-6 in district, got eliminated from playoff contention with Spring's win over Tomball on Tuesday. Bobby Poland got the win, going seven innings and allowing five hits, with eight strikeouts. Robby Scott took the loss for KFHS. In the top of the third, Greg Babcock walked and Jeff Johnson sacrificed him to second. He went to third on Danny Lehmann's single and scored on Elliot Roberts' sac fly. Aaron Cook then homered in the fourth, with Johnson getting a two-run shot shortly after, scoring Babcock, who had singled to make it 4-0. Klein Forest got a homer by Carl Krailo in the fourth. In the top of the seventh, Justin Darr walked, went to third on Trent Elizondo's double and scored with Elizondo on Cook's double. Sam Haag then was hit by a pitch, with Kris Calhoun then doubling in two runners. For the night, Lehmann was 3-for-5, Roberts 1-for-2, Elizondo 3-for-4, Cook 2-for-4, Babcock 1-for-4 and Johnson 1-for-2. TWHS hosts Conroe to close out the season Friday at 7 p.m. at Scotland Yard. |
