Highlanders pound Klein Forest
From staff reports April 24, 2003
The No. 2 area-ranked The Woodlands baseball team exploded for 20 runs in the fourth inning night as the Highlanders defeated Klein Forest 24-9 Wednesday night.
The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday night but was postponed due to rain.

The Golden Eagles held a 9-4 lead heading into the fourth when the Highlander bats came alive and they put 20 runs on the board. Klein Forest used four different pitchers during the inning to try to cool The Woodlands' hot bats.

Tyler Soeder got the victory for The Woodlands as he came on in the third inning in relief of starter Brad Depoy and pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings allowing two hits while striking out five.

At the plate, Jordan Roberts went 3-for-3 with a two-run home run in the first inning and a grand slam in the fourth. John Bailey also hit a three-run homer for The Woodlands. Other top hitters included Elliot Roberts who was 3-for-3, Aaron Cook who went 4-for-4 and Jimmy Hardinbrook who had a double.

The Highlanders improve to 23-2 on the season and a perfect 13-0 in District 15-5A play. They will play at Conroe on Friday at 7 p.m. in their final regular season game.
