Walker's no-hitter leads WoodlandsHighlanders top Klein Collins 9-0 in 14-5A duel

Kyle Walker | Kyle Walker threw a no-hitter Friday to lead top-ranked The Woodlands past No. 12 Klein Collins in a game between two of District 14-5A's top teams.
Walker struck out 13 Tigers in a dominating effort as The Woodlands cruised to a 9-0 victory.
Walker had good movement throughout the night. He walked five but did not allow more than one runner to reach base until the seventh inning, when he walked two batters.
The Woodlands' offense pounded out 11 hits, gradually building a big lead.
The Highlanders (18-2) were up 3-0 when they exploded for four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Paul Goldschmidt, Kyle Drabek and Mickey Armstrong each had three hits.
Armstrong also drove in three runs for The Woodlands.
Klein Collins fell to 18-5.
In other games• Tomball 15, Langham Creek 4 — Kyle Russell broke open a tie game with a grand slam in the top of the fourth inning that opened the floodgates as the fifth-ranked Cougars rolled past No. 15 Langham Creek. The game was tied at 3 when Russell cleared the bases with the first of his two homers on the night. He hit another in the fifth.
Langham Creek committed six errors — including costly ones early that led to the first three Cougars runs — and Tomball picked up big hits to drive in its baserunners. Tomball needed just eight hits to score 15 runs.
• La Porte 3, North Shor e 0 — Jay Prigmore's two-run double in the bottom of the third inning helped lead No. 4 La Porte past District 23-5A rival North Shore. Prigmore's RBIs broke open a scoreless game and gave pitcher Jake Bussey a cushion.
Bussey went the distance for the Bulldogs (18-5), striking out six North Shore batters.
La Porte added an insurance run in the sixth on an RBI single by Ryan Vest.
North Shore lost for the third time in district play and fell to 12-8.
• Clear Lake 9, Pearland 2 — Clear Lake got strong production from the bottom of its lineup to pick up a one-sided victory on the road over District 24-5A foe Pearland. The Falcons exploded for five runs in the top of the seventh to put the game out of reach. Clear Lake built a 9-0 lead going into the top of the seventh.
