TW, Drabek no-hit Forest
The Woodlands High School varsity baseball team used a dominating performance from Kyle Drabek to shut out Klein Forest 11-0 Wednesday night.

The preseason All-American was on his game both on the mound and at the plate in the contest that was originally scheduled for Tuesday. Drabek gave up no hits as he used his fastball and curve ball to work both sides of the plate en route to striking out 14 Golden Eagles. The junior then feasted off the Forest pitching as he was 4-for-4 with a walk.

Other top Highlander hitters were Cody Harmon who was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs while Wayne Hrozek was 2-for-5 with a double and three RBI. Brett Parson went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored.

The Highlanders struck first in the third inning as they loaded the bases on a Derek Smith walk, a Hrozek single, and a Drabek walk. Smith scored on a passed ball before Harmon knocked home Hrozek with a single.

In the fourth inning, Parsons led off with a double before David Alleman singled. Smith laid down a bunt single and a throwing error on the play allowed Parsons to come home. Alleman then scored as Hrozek grounded into a double play.

Leading 4-0, The Woodlands tacked on another pair of runs in the fifth. Mickey Armstrong was hit by a pitch and Tim Schneider pinch ran for the catcher. Harmon came through with an RBI double to plate Schneider and later scored on a passed ball after advancing to third on a wild pitch.

The Highlanders then squashed any hopes of a Forest comeback with a five-run seventh inning. Chad Watkins walked, Parsons singled and Jared Garza drew another walk to load the bases. After Smith hit into a fielder's choice, Hrozek smacked a bases-clearing double into center field for a 9-0 lead. Drabek then picked up his fourth hit and Kyle Brundage ran for him. Kyle Walker knocked home Hrozek with a single and after Armsrtong walked, Harmon drew another base on balls to score Brundage.

In the bottom of the seventh, Drabek recorded his 14th K of the night and then ended the game as he corralled a come-backer up the middle by reaching over his head for the ball and starting a 1-6-3 double play.

The Woodlands, now 13-2 on the year and 2-1 in 14-5A, will host Huntsville tonight at 7.
