Recent The Woodlands High School graduate Tim Schneider was one of the leading hitters in the greater Houston area this spring.

Schneider, who will compete collegiately at Sam Houston State University with teammates Jerad Stevens and Ryan Mooney, led the Highlanders with a .422 average.

Additionally, he had seven home runs, 10 doubles, scored 35 runs and had 33 RBIs in helping TWHS go 15-0 in league play. For his efforts, he was named the Most Valuable Player in 15-5A.

"Tim got off to a great start hitting the ball and continued it all year," said TWHS head coach Ron Eastman, 15-5A's Coach of the Year. "He also anchored down third base for us and did an outstanding job. He's was a leader by his work ethic."

Another top honor, the Heart Award, was shared by The Woodlands senior and Texas A&M-bound David Alleman, Oak Ridge's Shaun Finley and Lufkin's Dominquez Enrique. Alleman missed a big part of the season due to an injury after making all-state as a junior on the Highlanders' state and national title team in 2006.

"He could have packed it in after the injury, but he came to every practice and did his rehab," said Eastman. "He worked hard to get back for the playoffs. He showed a lot of heart all year supporting his teammates."

The Woodlands had five players make first-team all-district - pitcher Jerad Stevens, catcher Mickey Armstrong (Texas Tech), outfielders Taylor Grote and Brett Eibner, all seniors, and sophomore Ryan Eastman.

College Park had two first-team selections - pitcher Austin Pruitt and outfielder Ryan Byrne. Conroe's first-teamers are shortstop Hunter Junell and third baseman Nick Kozole, while Oak Ridge is represented by pitcher Francisco Miranda, first baseman Thomas Rooke, outfielder Chase Daniel and utility man Garet Norton. Magnolia's first-teamer is third baseman Jake Downey.
